The durian export issue, the target of zero poverty is the focus of the Dewan Rakyat today

KUALA LUMPUR: The issue of the process of exporting fresh durian to China, the rigid target of zero poverty and the construction of a waste-to-energy plant are among the issues in focus at the Dewan Rakyat conference today.

Bernama reports, based on the Agenda of the Meeting through the Parliament portal, the questions will be asked during the Oral Question and Answer session.

Chow Yu Hui (PH-Raub) asked the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security to state the government’s efforts to speed up the process of exporting fresh durian to China and to give a time frame when the export could start.

He also asked about the constraints or problems faced by the ministry in the process as well as solutions to overcome them.

In addition, questions related to the next state targeted by the government to achieve zero extreme poverty and its action plan were asked by Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PN-Pasir Mas) to the Minister of Economy.

In the same session, Sim Tze Tzin (PH-Bayan Baru) asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government a question regarding the list of 18 locations that will build ‘waste to energy’ plants throughout the country, including in Penang.

Datuk Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) also asked the Minister of Human Resources to state the number of accidents related to occupational health and safety (OSH) that were recorded and the latest approach taken in raising awareness about OSH among employers including small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

In addition, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein (BN-Sembrong) asked the Minister of Economy the extent of Malaysia’s inflation rate in the First Quarter of 2024, with 1.8 percent reflecting the economic reality and the increase in the cost of living that the majority of people and consumers are currently facing.

The Dewan Rakyat conference continued by continuing the debate on the motion for the Annual Report and Financial Statements of the Malaysian Human Rights Commission (SUHAKAM) for 2021 and 2022.

In addition, also listed in today’s meeting agenda is the second reading of the Limited Liability Partnership Bill (Amendment) 2024 and the Audit Bill (Amendment) 2024 as well as resuming the debate on the Constitution Bill (Amendment) 2024.

The Second Meeting, Third Term of the 15th Parliament lasted for 15 days until 18 July.
