SEREMBAN: The Driving Institute (IM) found to be involved with the flying license syndicate or ‘coffee O’ license will face the immediate cancellation of its operating license.

According to Bernama, the Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke, said that corrupt activities in the driving test industry must be eliminated because such actions will endanger the lives of road users, especially young people.

“The driving institute should not be involved in corruption, if it is not eradicated, young people become victims, we want to save human lives.

“People are also advised not to be easily fooled by the offer of flying licenses through advertisements on social media,” he said when speaking at the 10th anniversary ceremony of RDS Driving Academy Sdn Bhd and the Orang Asli L License Project, here today.

Following that, he explained, the implementation of the Electronic Driving Training and Testing System (eTesting) became a proactive and integrity measure introduced to eliminate the symptoms of corruption in the driving testing industry.

He called on driving institutes to familiarize themselves with the use of the system before its use becomes mandatory in 2030.

“The Ministry earnestly implements eTesting to ensure a system with more integrity.

“We have heard about the symptoms of flying licenses for a long time, but I see that there is a positive development, although it is not denied that there may be more syndicates trying to take advantage, we will continue our efforts to fight corruption,” he said.

Loke said that his side had received many applications from driving institutes for the implementation of eTesting since it was introduced last April.

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is processing the application and the first group will receive letters in the near future.
