Son remanded as suspect after woman found dead in Ipoh

IPOH: The 60-year-old woman’s death, discovered on Wednesday, June 12, covered in blood in a residence in Taman Mujur Bercham nearby, has been ruled a murder by the police.

Following a post-mortem that showed the victim had suffered blunt force injuries to the head and neck, Ipoh OCPD Assistant Chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad stated that the case was being looked into under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“The post-mortem was finished by Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun on Thursday, June 13, at approximately 9.15 a.m.

He said in a statement on Thursday night, “It was formerly classified as sudden death, but it is now reclassified as murder with intent.”

In order to aid with the investigation, he continued, the victim’s 36-year-old son has been placed in remand until this Friday, June 14.

“The suspect has 11 offences on his criminal record, including drug-related cases,” he stated.
