On Tuesday, the region was engulfed in a hailstorm, resulting in the disconnection of portions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the loss of electricity for over 170,000 individuals.

“The electricity supply situation deteriorated despite the continuous work and efforts to repair the faults.” Elektroprivreda BiH, the distributor, has reported that 127,000 metering points are currently without electricity.

Also, Elektrokrajina, which encompasses the municipalities of the Serb entity in Bosnia, Republika Srpska, has disclosed that approximately 50,000 of its customers are experiencing power outages.

“The company has deployed all available field teams, and they have been working since the early morning hours to repair the faults,” it stated.

At the same time, a state of emergency was declared in the western region of Bosnia due to severe weather that obstructed all entry and departure points to the municipality of Drvar, thereby isolating its 17,000 residents.

“The circumstances are exceedingly challenging.” The snow continues to accumulate. Jasna Pecanac, the president of the Drvar Municipal Council, informed the local media that individuals are currently stranded in the snow.

The intense blizzard is further complicating clearing efforts, as snowdrifts in certain villages in the vicinity of Drvar are as high as two meters.

“We are seeking assistance with snow removal.” “All available machinery is currently in the field,” stated Pecanac.

The western regions of the nation are experiencing the most significant snowfall, necessitating a red weather alert.

The severe precipitation has resulted in a multitude of faults in the electricity distribution network of the hilly and mountainous regions of this area.

The Serbian Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a warning about the persistence of heavy precipitation.
