KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid KL will extend the operating hours of several selected rail and bus services for 24 hours on August 30 and 31 to facilitate the public attending the 2026 National Day Celebration to be held at Dataran Putrajaya.
In a statement today, Rapid KL informed that the implementation of the 24‑hour operations involves all rail services operated by it, including the Light Rail Transit (LRT), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Kuala Lumpur Monorail.
According to the statement, train frequency will be increased on several main routes to accommodate the increase in passenger numbers during the celebration period.
“The service schedule will be adjusted according to demand and current conditions at stations. Additional trains will also be deployed if necessary, based on monitoring of passenger numbers and congestion levels on platforms,” said the statement.
In addition, the Sunway Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service, together with several Rapid KL bus routes and Rapid KL On‑Demand, will also operate for 24 hours to provide more transport options to users.
“To facilitate the movement of the public to the celebration location in Putrajaya, Rapid KL will also provide a free shuttle bus service involving 103 buses.
“The service will operate from Putrajaya Sentral Station to Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Presint 2, starting at 2 pm on August 30 until 2 pm on August 31,” it said further.
Meanwhile, another free shuttle bus route will be provided from the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) to Jalan Tun Hussein, Presint 3, starting at 4 am to 2 pm on August 31.
In a related development, Rapid KL informed that more than 5,000 frontliners from various units will be deployed in shifts throughout August 30 and 31.
According to the statement, the deployment aims to support service operations, manage crowd movement and ensure the flow of passengers at stations and key areas runs smoothly and safely throughout the celebration.
