Singapore Steps Up Enforcement at Woodlands Checkpoint Ahead of Festive Travel Rush

13

SINGAPORE, Feb 12 :  Singapore authorities will intensify enforcement operations at the Woodlands Checkpoint from Feb 13 to Feb 17 to ensure smooth traffic flow and deter violations during the upcoming festive travel period.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said the enhanced operations will target motorists who commit offenses such as speeding, queue cutting, and failing to follow officers’ instructions at the checkpoint.

According to ICA, eight traffic violation cases were detected at Woodlands Checkpoint in January, with offenders subjected to enforcement action. The agency warned that firm measures would be taken against travelers who disregard checkpoint regulations.

“Authorities will not hesitate to take action against those who break the rules or fail to comply with officers’ instructions,” ICA said in a statement posted on its official social media channels.

Drivers of foreign-registered vehicles who commit offenses may face entry bans into Singapore, while drivers of Singapore-registered vehicles could be referred to the Traffic Police for further investigation and penalties.

ICA urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules and cooperate with officers to ensure safety and efficiency at the border checkpoint during the busy festive season.
