SHAH ALAM: The State Government will continue to seek public and stakeholder feedback before finalising the alignment for the Rel Kita Selangor project.
State Investment, Trade and Mobility Executive Councillor Ng Sze Han said the current proposed alignment has not yet been finalised and can be adjusted based on feedback received throughout the planning process.
According to him, the State Government is committed to ensuring that every view is taken into consideration before a final decision is made on the public transport project.
“The proposed rail alignment does already exist, but it has not yet been finalised. We can still make adjustments based on the various views received,” he said.
He said this to reporters after launching the Business Linkages and Advancement Programme (BLAST) here today.
Sze Han said engagement sessions would also be held if the project’s implementation involves land acquisition.
He said this approach is important to ensure that the development process is carried out transparently while taking into account the interests of all parties involved.
The Rel Kita Selangor network was created to enhance public transport connectivity in Selangor, thereby reducing traffic congestion and supporting the state’s economic growth.
The project is also expected to complement the existing rail system by connecting to underserved areas, as well as strengthening the network between residential, commercial and industrial areas, along with integration with the current public transport system.
Yesterday, Dato’ Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the first alignment of the Rel Kita Selangor Project, connecting the southern part of the state, is expected to begin development next year through collaboration between the State and Federal Governments.
He said the State Government is now in the final stages of finalising discussions with the Federal Government to enable the project’s implementation.
According to him, the southern area was chosen as the first phase due to high demand for public transport usage in that area.
Meanwhile, Sze Han informed that the response to the RM30 transport subsidy initiative introduced by the State Government has been very encouraging.
“The response has been very good. Currently, we are waiting for Rapid On-Demand to join the initiative, which is scheduled to begin on August 1,” he said.
