KUALA LUMPUR|| June 28: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, has been honored with the prestigious International Tokoh Ma’al Hijrah 2025 award by the Malaysian government in recognition of his contributions to the Islamic world.
The award, which translates to “Hijrah Personality of the Year”, is presented annually to a distinguished Muslim figure whose work significantly advances Islamic causes and improves the lives of Muslims globally.
Dr. Al-Rabiah received the award during a special ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with the Hijri New Year. The award was presented by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia. Also in attendance were Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Minister of Religious Affairs Datuk Dr. Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.
Al-Rabiah was recognized for his instrumental role in enhancing the Hajj and Umrah experience through innovative systems and services that prioritize the safety, efficiency, and spiritual well-being of millions of pilgrims visiting the holy sites each year.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that the award reflects international appreciation for Al-Rabiah’s leadership and Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts in serving Islam and the global Muslim community.
The Ma’al Hijrah celebration is a significant event in Malaysia, marking the beginning of the Islamic lunar calendar and celebrating contributions to faith, unity, and progress within the ummah.
