Prime Minister Wraps Up Johor Getaway, Returns to Kuala Lumpur by ETS

JOHOR BARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim concluded a short family visit to Johor on Monday, describing the trip as a refreshing opportunity to experience the state’s historical and cultural attractions.

Speaking briefly to reporters before departing from JB Sentral Station, Anwar expressed his gratitude for the visit, saying the time spent in Johor had been meaningful and enjoyable. He then boarded the Electric Train Service 3 (ETS3) for his return journey to Kuala Lumpur.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, as well as Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) chief operating officer Afzar Zakariya. Anwar and his family arrived at the station at about 3.27 pm and departed on the 4 pm ETS service.

Before leaving, Anwar took time to greet members of the public and staff at the terminal, stopping to interact and pose for photographs with visitors.

The Prime Minister arrived in Johor Baru on Sunday afternoon via the same ETS service. During his stay, he visited Johor Zoo with his grandchildren, where he met visitors and received briefings on recent upgrades and development plans for the facility. He expressed hope that the zoo would continue to evolve as a space that combines recreation, education, and heritage for the public.

On Monday morning, Anwar also toured the Royal Abu Bakar Museum, which showcases royal artifacts and reflects the historical and cultural legacy of the Johor Sultanate within its scenic surroundings.

In a post shared on social media, Anwar commended the Johor state government for its ongoing efforts to preserve heritage sites and enhance tourism offerings, in line with the Visit Johor 2026 initiative.
