KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will officiate the Sabah State-Level Kaamatan Festival 2026 at Hongkod Koisaan, the headquarters of the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) in Penampang today.

He is scheduled to arrive at the cultural hall at 11am to officiate the annual cultural festival and participate in the symbolic traditional paddy harvesting ceremony.

Accompanied by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, Anwar is also scheduled to visit the traditional houses located at the Koisaan Cultural Village, KDCA, and interact with visitors attending the event.

Meanwhile, the official closing ceremony of the festival will be officiated by Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman tomorrow.

The two-day highlight event is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors.

To facilitate movement and reduce traffic congestion, free shuttle bus services are being provided from Imago and Suria shopping malls here to Hongkod Koisaan from 10am to 10pm.

Pesta Kaamatan is a traditional harvest festival celebrated enthusiastically by the people of Sabah as a sign of gratitude for a bountiful paddy harvest. It is celebrated throughout May, with the main events taking place on May 30 and 31 each year.
