Police say that two deaths from Gombak school are related to food poisoning

GOMBAK: There have been two cases of food poisoning deaths connected to food from Gombak school.

Gombak OCPD Assistant Chief Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir revealed in a statement on Tuesday, June 11, that the first case concerned the death of a 17-year-old boy on June 8 following his mother’s return of food from the school.

“The victim and his parents both had diarrhoea after consuming the meal. The victim lost consciousness on June 10.

“He was pronounced dead by medical officers at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL),” stated the official.

A girl, two years old, was implicated in the second case.

The girl received food from her father, a security guard at the school, on June 8, the same day he brought it back. 

The victim’s mother noticed that on June 10, the victim had a fever, was throwing up, and had diarrhoea.

“The little girl was pronounced dead while receiving treatment from medical officers at Hospital Selayang,” he stated.

The forensics division of Selayang Hospital has been tasked with handling both bodies in order to take further action. The instances have been reported to the Health Ministry by the police, who have classified the case as sudden death.

According to investigations, the victims had eaten fried eggs and bihun.
