PM Attends International Sahih Muslim Recital Ceremony at Putra Mosque

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed gratitude for the opportunity to attend the 2025 International Khatam Sama’ Hadis Sahih Muslim Ceremony held at the Putra Mosque today, alongside thousands of Muslims and prominent scholars from around the world.

The event was further enlivened by major lectures delivered by distinguished ulama, strengthening scholarly ties and elevating the standing of Islamic knowledge on the global stage.

Anwar conveyed his highest appreciation to India’s Grand Mufti, Al-Allamah Sheikh Abu Bakar Ahmad Al-Malibari, as well as scholars from Yemen, Egypt, Bahrain, Tunisia, Indonesia, and Malaysia, whose presence reinforced confidence that such initiatives can continue enhancing cooperation between religious scholars (ulama) and national leaders (umara).

During his sermon, Sheikh Abu Bakar emphasized the enduring importance of Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim as the primary references for Muslims. He also encouraged greater engagement with other hadith collections, such as Sunan Tirmizi, to deepen understanding and mastery of Islamic knowledge.

In a brief speech, Anwar highlighted the importance of integrating modern technology into Islamic learning, including Quranic studies and hadith recitation, to ensure that religious knowledge continues to progress in line with contemporary needs.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding this responsibility, saying it will continue efforts to improve the well-being of the people through key agendas such as energy transition, sustainable economic development, and the preservation of human dignity, ethics, and religious values in line with the principles of Malaysia MADANI.
