Philippines, Tonga and Vanuatu Hit by Several Earthquakes

BEIJING: Several earthquakes hit the Philippines, Tonga and Vanuatu, reported Xinhua.

In Mindanao, Philippines, a 5.3-magnitude earthquake shook the area at 11.06 pm GMT on Monday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).

The epicentre at a depth of 10 kilometres (km) was initially identified at 7.70 degrees north and 126.74 degrees east.

In Tonga, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck south of the country at 11.12 pm GMT on Monday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The epicentre at a depth of 10 km was identified at 24.78 degrees south and 175.26 degrees west.

Meanwhile in Vanuatu, a 5.0-magnitude earthquake shook the island nation at 8.10 pm GMT on Monday, according to the GFZ.

The epicentre at a depth of 10 km was initially identified at 14.52 degrees south and 168.07 degrees east.
