SHAH ALAM: The PAS Syura Council has approved the reinstatement of three Perlis state assemblymen whose party memberships were terminated late last year, following appeals grounded in principles of reconciliation and unity.

According to Sinar Harian, PAS spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin confirmed that the appeals were submitted by Saad Seman (Chuping), Fakhrul Anwar Ismail (Bintong), and Mohd Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji). Their reinstatement was decided after the council reviewed the matter through the lens of Islamic teachings on brotherhood.

Hashim said the decision was guided by Quranic values, particularly those found in Surah al-Hujurat, which emphasise reconciliation, compassion, and the strengthening of communal ties. He stressed that Islamic guidance prioritises unity over punitive measures.

“The Quran calls for the strengthening of brotherhood, not the severing of ties without compassion,” Hashim said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Feb 1). He added that the Prophet Muhammad’s approach to discipline focused on repentance and forgiveness rather than swift punishment.

Hashim also highlighted an Islamic legal principle stating that harm must be removed, noting that leaving three constituencies without fully functioning representatives would negatively impact the public. He said the welfare of the people should not be compromised for the sake of rigid internal party discipline.

“The objective of Shariah-compliant politics is to preserve unity, safeguard trust within the movement, and manage differences without destroying the organisation. The people must not become victims of internal party disputes,” he said.

The decision was reached during the second PAS Syura Council meeting for the 2026–2030 term, held on January 27 at the party’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. Hashim said the council must continue to act as a just, mediating, and forgiving body to ensure unity among members, particularly in Perlis, and to prevent further internal friction.
