NS Election: Qui Fah Willing to Fly from Australia to Vote in Chennah DUN

JELEBU: Willing to cross thousands of miles and endure a long journey from Australia, an elderly citizen did not want to miss the opportunity to fulfil his duty as a voter in the Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) today.

Lim Qui Fah, 67, a voter for the Chennah State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat, who arrived at the polling centre as early as 7.40 am, said his decision to return to his hometown in Chennah was made solely to ensure his voice could be translated through the ballot paper.

Although he now resides in Australia, the Chennah native considers every vote cast as important in determining the future and stability of the country.

“This is my responsibility to the country, especially here in Chennah today.

“Although the distance is far, I still want to return because Chennah is my place of origin and the future of this homeland is always close to my heart.

“Thousands of miles of distance is not an excuse for me to sit idly by. Every vote cast is precious, and I hope the voters in Chennah realise that the decision we make today will determine the country’s direction for future generations,” he said when met here today.

The Chennah DUN seat sees a contest between the incumbent, DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke representing Pakatan Harapan (PH), and John Siow Kong Choon from Barisan Nasional (BN).

In terms of demographics, Chennah is among the most balanced DUN seats in Negeri Sembilan.

Malay voters make up approximately 46 per cent of the total voters, while Chinese voters contribute 44 per cent, making it one of the key mixed seats in the state.
