Negeri Sembilan Polls: 21 State Seats See Three-Cornered Fights
SHAH ALAM: A total of 21 out of 36 State Legislative Assembly seats contested in the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election will see three-cornered fights.
Election Commission (EC) Chairman, Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said of the total seats contested, 11 state seats will see two-cornered fights, while two seats each will involve four-cornered and five-cornered contests.
“The EC has received and confirmed a total of 103 nomination papers from eligible candidates for the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election.
“Of that number, Pakatan Harapan (PH) fielded 36 candidates, followed by Barisan Nasional (BN) with 25 candidates, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) with 24 candidates and Perikatan Nasional (PN) with 11 candidates,” he said in a media statement regarding the Negeri Sembilan state election nomination process on Saturday.
He said, in addition, Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa), Parti Orang Asli Malaysia (ASLI) and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) each fielded one candidate, while four other candidates contested as Independents.
Ramlan said all 103 nomination papers received were confirmed as eligible to contest after the nomination process was completed at eight nomination centres across the state.
He said, as a result, this Negeri Sembilan state election will see multi-cornered contests, with the majority of seats involving three-cornered fights.
