KUALA LUMPUR: The Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) is leveraging its record-breaking performance last year as a springboard to further strengthen integrity, discipline, and professionalism in tackling increasingly sophisticated and cross-border drug crimes, said Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, NCID Director.

In his recent New Year address at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol), Comm Hussein praised NCID officers nationwide for achieving the department’s best-ever results, with more than RM4 billion worth of drugs seized and 270 syndicates dismantled.

“Various objectives were achieved, including improved operational effectiveness, higher-quality intelligence, successful forfeiture of assets linked to criminal activities, and enhanced professionalism in investigations,” he said. “This reflects the strong commitment, teamwork, and capability across the NCID.”

Comm Hussein emphasized that these achievements should now serve as a benchmark and catalyst for even greater performance. He highlighted the need to uphold integrity, discipline, and professionalism, particularly as drug-related crimes grow more organized, sophisticated, and transnational.

“NCID officers must remain proactive, decisive, and grounded in good governance, with zero tolerance for misconduct or ethical breaches. Intelligence capabilities must be further strengthened, high-impact operations expanded, and investigations approached holistically,” he said.

He added that the department’s approach should encompass asset forfeiture, prosecution, and prevention, ensuring enforcement actions deliver long-term disruption to drug syndicates. Strategic cooperation at both national and international levels remains vital in addressing the drug threat comprehensively, he stressed.

The event also served as a platform to unite leadership and personnel in enhancing organizational readiness and reaffirming NCID’s continued commitment to combat drug-related crimes for the sake of national security and public well-being.

Among the attendees were NCID top leadership, including Deputy Comm Mohd Zani Che Din, DCP Datuk Mat Zani Mohd Salahuddin, and Senior Asst Comm Mohd Zaki Ashar, as well as state chiefs and senior officers from across the country.
