Man Shot by Two Suspects at Petrol Station

TAPAH: A man was injured after being shot by two individuals at a petrol station in Bidor Sentral, Bidor, here on Tuesday.

In the incident at about 6.08pm, the 41-year-old victim arrived at the petrol station in a white Toyota Land Cruiser to refuel.

Perak Police Chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said preliminary investigations found that a black Honda City approached from the direction of Bidor town before stopping in front of the victim’s vehicle.

He said two men then got out of the car and fired several shots at the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the scene.

“The victim, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was injured after being struck by a bullet in the left shoulder.

“At the time of the incident, there were five people in the victim’s vehicle, and none of the others was injured,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Mohd Alwi said the victim initially received treatment at Tapah Hospital before being referred to a hospital in Ipoh and subsequently transferred to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB).

He said the victim is now reported to be in stable condition after receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, Mohd Alwi said a forensic examination of the scene uncovered one 9mm Luger bullet, four 9mm Luger spent cartridges and bullet fragments.

“Further examination of the victim’s vehicle also uncovered several bullet fragments and bullet impact marks on the vehicle.

“Preliminary investigations found that a firearm was used in the incident, and further investigations are under way to identify the suspects and determine the motive,” he said.

He said investigators are also reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from several relevant locations, including routes around Bidor and identified toll plazas.

Examinations and analyses of evidence related to the case are also being conducted to assist the investigation.

Mohd Alwi said the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 3(1) of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.

He urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist the police investigation.

Earlier, a 56-second CCTV recording of the shooting at a petrol station in Bidor on Tuesday went viral on social media.
