Death of 14-Year-Old Student: Five Students Claim They Were Previously Bullied by First Suspect

KUALA LUMPUR: Five students have come forward claiming they were previously bullied by the first suspect detained in connection with the death of a Form Two student at a secondary school in Kuala Pilah last Friday.

Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, when contacted by Astro AWANI, said police have so far recorded statements from 69 witnesses, comprising 53 students, four teachers, three wardens, six parents, two doctors and a boxing coach.

“However, there are still several witnesses who will be called to assist in the investigation,” he said here on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, when asked about the arrest of the second suspect, a 16-year-old boy, Alzafny said preliminary investigations found that the teenager was believed to have called the victim to meet the first suspect at the time of the incident.

He said further investigations also found that the second suspect was suspected of kicking the victim six times during their first encounter.

According to Alzafny, the first and second suspects are Form Four students at the same school, while the victim was also in the same class as them for archery activities.

He said a comprehensive investigation is still under way to determine the actual cause of the victim’s death.

“However, we [the police] are still awaiting the results of the analysis of specimens sent to the Chemistry Department after the post-mortem was unable to determine the cause of death,” he said.

Alzafny said based on preliminary statements obtained, the victim had never told his family that he had been bullied at school.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The media previously reported that Muhammad Idlan Fareeq Shahril was found unconscious at the school hostel before being taken to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital (HTAN) in Kuala Pilah, where he was pronounced dead.
