Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says that Malaysians living abroad shouldn’t forget about the advanced technology, knowledge, and skills that are available in Malaysia.

The Prime Minister said this was because global investors have continued to see how excellent Malaysia is at technology, and many of them have reinvested after doing business there for years.

Anwar said that Infineon Technologies AG, which makes more semiconductors than any other company in Germany, had recently invested another six billion euros because they think Malaysia has the right amount of expertise, technology, and talent compared to Germany.

This was Anwar’s answer to a question at a dinner on Friday with over 700 Malaysians who live outside of Malaysia.

In Malaysia, the Prime Minister said that because of the country’s high standards, about 140,000 foreign students attend its colleges. Anwar said that Malaysian companies like YTL, Eco World, Sime Darby, and TNB are also doing well in the UK.

These companies have won jobs through open tenders mostly because of their technology and the people who work for them, he said. Additionally, Anwar said that students in the UK or other countries can stay and work in their own countries to gain experience and learn new technologies.

“The JPA (Public Service Department) is even thinking about letting their students stay and learn if they don’t have to go back home right away,” he said. The Bernama
