KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5: Malaysia has achieved a new milestone on the global stage, with its passport now ranked the third most powerful in the world, according to the latest Passport Index 2025.

The Malaysian Immigration Department announced the achievement in a statement on social media, describing it as a reflection of international confidence in the security and credibility of Malaysia’s travel documents.

“Malaysian passport holders now enjoy visa-free access to 174 countries worldwide,” the department said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Nov 5).

According to the latest data from Passport Index, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) passport retains the top position globally, while Singapore and Spain share second place.

Malaysia shares the third spot with 15 other countries, including Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Luxembourg, Italy, Denmark, Portugal, Switzerland, Greece, Austria, Norway, Ireland, and South Korea.

This ranking places Malaysia as having one of the highest-ranked passports in Asia, reaffirming its status as one of the world’s most trusted and respected travel documents.

The Passport Index is an international benchmark that ranks passports based on the number of countries their holders can enter without a visa, with data updated in real time from official government and border sources.
