MACC Detains Two Individuals Including a Datuk Suspected of Involvement in Felda Land Sales

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained two individuals, including one with the title of Datuk who is also a former Director-General of a statutory body, on suspicion of involvement in misappropriation, abuse of power and corruption in the appointment of a developer company for a project in Kuala Lumpur.

Both male individuals, aged in their 60s and 50s, are believed to have been arrested at around 4 pm yesterday when they were called to provide their statements at the MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya.

Both individuals are also suspected of being involved in the sale of land belonging to the statutory body to a company with interests linked to the developer company, without the knowledge of the Board of Directors and its subsidiary.

Both suspects will be brought to the Putrajaya Magistrates’ Court tomorrow to obtain a remand order.

MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman, when contacted, confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.
