PUTRAJAYA, Nov 7: The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Aerotrain service will be temporarily halted daily from midnight to 5am to facilitate inspection and maintenance works, Malaysia Airports announced on Friday.
According to a statement on the official KLIA X account, the five-hour suspension will allow engineers to carry out inspection and rectification activities to ensure the safety and reliability of the Aerotrain system.
“Aerotrain services will undergo inspection and rectification works from 12am to 5am daily. During this period, shuttle buses will operate in full to ensure passengers continue to enjoy a seamless transfer experience,” KLIA said.
The airport operator emphasized that the move is part of its “ongoing commitment to maintain safe, efficient, and comfortable airport connectivity.”
This comes after Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) announced on Oct 31 a comprehensive action plan to address recurring reliability issues affecting the Aerotrain system. The plan involves closer collaboration with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and the Ministry of Transport to resolve the matter.
MAHB had earlier raised concerns with contractors following a series of Aerotrain incidents and demanded immediate corrective action.
The Transport Ministry previously stated that the Aerotrain provider could face penalties of up to RM190,000 for every month it fails to ensure smooth operations.
Shuttle bus services will continue to operate throughout the nightly suspension period to transport passengers between the main terminal and satellite building without disruption.
