KUALA LUMPUR: KL City Gateway Sdn Bhd today successfully conducted the Replacement Unit Balloting Ceremony for the Kampung Sungai Baru Redevelopment Project in Kampung Bharu, Kuala Lumpur, in a smooth, orderly and transparent manner, in accordance with the agreements and procedures mutually agreed upon by all relevant parties.

The ceremony marked another significant milestone in the implementation of the redevelopment project, following the groundbreaking ceremony held on Oct 31, 2025, which was officiated by former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

The developer stressed that the replacement unit allocation process was carried out transparently, fairly and with integrity, fully guided by the Joint Venture Agreement between the developer and the property owners.

According to the company, the agreement serves as the principal document binding all parties involved in the project implementation, including the mechanism for determining replacement units for affected owners.

“As such, the results of the replacement unit ballot conducted today are final, in line with the mechanism agreed upon under the Joint Venture Agreement,” the company said in a statement.

The event also reflected the continued commitment of all stakeholders in ensuring that the redevelopment process is implemented in a structured, organised and well-governed manner.

Chairperson of the Kampung Sungai Baru Property Owners Welfare Association, Puan Sanita, described the ceremony as another important development in realising the long-awaited redevelopment project.

She said the implementation of the replacement unit balloting process demonstrated the commitment of all parties in ensuring that every stage of the project is conducted in an orderly, transparent and fair manner, in accordance with the agreement signed.

“Today’s event is not merely about unit allocation, but another important step proving that the Kampung Sungai Baru Redevelopment Project continues to move forward.

“It reflects tangible progress achieved through the cooperation and commitment of all parties in realising the redevelopment long awaited by property owners,” she said.

Meanwhile, KL City Gateway Sdn Bhd director Abdul Hadi Ahmad said the replacement unit determination process had been conducted transparently, systematically and according to the agreed terms.

“The unit allocation process was carried out transparently, in a disciplined manner and in accordance with the agreement agreed upon by all parties.

“The results of the ballot are final and implemented based on the mechanism stipulated in the Joint Venture Agreement,” he said.

He added that following the completion of the ballot process, all affected owners would proceed with the documentation process related to their respective replacement units.

The documents, he said, would serve as official references until the replacement units are completed in the future.

KL City Gateway Sdn Bhd also expressed appreciation to representatives from the Kampong Bharu Development Corporation, the association’s legal representatives, the developer’s lawyers and representatives from the Kampung Sungai Baru Property Owners Welfare Association, who attended the ceremony as observers to ensure the process was conducted transparently and smoothly.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the Kampung Sungai Baru Redevelopment Project professionally, responsibly and systematically to ensure the redevelopment benefits can be realised for all affected owners.

The developer also recorded its appreciation to the Kampong Bharu Development Corporation, the Kampung Sungai Baru Property Owners Welfare Association, the organising secretariat and the local community for their cooperation and support in ensuring the success of the ceremony.
