The Kelantan government anticipates a cost of RM445.75 million for land acquisition in the areas designated for the proposed construction of a border wall and buffer zone.

According to Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud, the proposed security and flood control wall is essential for the state’s economy.

He stated that Kelantan is committed to resolving flooding issues and combating illicit activities along the 99-kilometer-long Sungai Golok.

“It is imperative to address cross-border crimes by constructing a border wall between Malaysia and Thailand, particularly for national border security,” he stated.

Mohd Nassuruddin made this statement during an engagement session with the Kelantan government about the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) at Kompleks Kota Darulnaim today. Additionally, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli was in attendance.

The National Security Council (MKN) will examine the proposal for a border wall along the Rantau Panjang-Sungai Golok segment, as stated by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail yesterday.

He stated that the MKN level would be the final decision point for the border wall’s construction.

On November 14, the Thai government endorsed Kelantan’s proposal to the federal government for the construction of a security and flood control wall along the Sungai Golok-Rantau Panjang border.

According to reports, Narathiwat Governor Trakul Thotham stated that the wall would be a substantial stride in the fight against cross-border offenses.
