KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued 382 summonses for various traffic and regulatory offenses during an integrated enforcement operation conducted at the Sungai Besi toll plaza on Tuesday.

JPJ Director Hamidi Adam said a total of 2,041 vehicles were inspected in the operation, which began at 8:30am and involved multiple enforcement agencies.

“During the operation, 382 summonses were issued for offenses including failure to possess a valid driving license, expired road tax, and overloading,” he told reporters after the operation concluded.

He added that 21 vehicles were seized, while four individuals tested positive for drug use.

Among the notable violations detected were two buses operating without licensed tour guides, an offense under the Land Public Transport Act 2010.

“This is a serious violation, as it poses safety risks to passengers and could negatively impact the country’s tourism image,” Hamidi said.

The JPJ director stressed that enforcement operations would continue to be carried out regularly to promote discipline and compliance among road users.

“Our ultimate objective is to ensure the safety of all road users,” he added.

Commenting on enforcement statistics, Hamidi revealed that KL JPJ issued 137,192 summonses in 2025, marking a slight decrease from 145,542 summonses in 2024. A total of 955 vehicles were seized last year for various offenses.

Among the most common violations recorded were expired driving licenses, unpaid road tax, and lack of vehicle insurance, as well as non-compliant tinted windows and vehicle overloading.

Hamidi reminded motorists to ensure that their driving licenses, road tax, and insurance policies remain valid at all times.

He also encouraged the public to report traffic-related offenses via the MyJPJ e-Aduan platform or by email to aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my.
