AMMAN, Aug 30: Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has urged the international community to take decisive action against Israel over its latest military offensive in Gaza, warning that unchecked aggression will only deepen instability across the region.

In a statement on social media platform X, Safadi commended the governments of Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Slovenia, and Spain for jointly condemning Israel’s actions in Gaza and opposing Israeli plans to establish a permanent presence in Gaza City.

“The impunity with which Israel is making a mockery of international law cannot continue,” Safadi said, calling on other nations committed to human rights and international law to join in collective condemnation and pressure. He stressed that urgent measures are needed to end the worsening hunger crisis in Gaza, where aid deliveries remain severely restricted.

Safadi accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately prolonging the war to protect his political future amid ongoing corruption charges. “Netanyahu thrives on conflict,” he said, adding that Israeli policies reflect a “racist, inhumane ideology that the world should not tolerate.”

He further claimed that Netanyahu is “destroying Gaza, destroying hopes for a just peace, and setting fire to the entire region” in order to maintain power. According to Safadi, more than 1.3 million Palestinians have lost their livelihoods in the conflict, while nearly one million residents of Gaza City now face famine conditions.

Safadi also said that a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas was within reach but alleged that Netanyahu was intentionally obstructing progress. “He prefers the war to continue. This is the horrific reality that the international community cannot ignore any more,” he said.

The Jordanian minister called on all governments to align with those in Europe that have taken a firm stand, urging immediate action to prevent further bloodshed. “We urge all countries to stand on the side of peace and justice and act now to stop the slaughtering of innocent Palestinians,” Safadi emphasized.
