Iran Dealt ‘Severe, Historic’ Blow to Israel, Declares President Pezeshkian

Tehran, June 25, 2025— Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared on Tuesday that the Israeli regime was forced to unilaterally halt its military campaign after suffering a “severe and historic” punishment delivered by Iran’s armed forces during Operation True Promise III.
In a televised address to the nation, President Pezeshkian praised the Iranian people’s “courageous steadfastness,” which he said was instrumental in achieving this “epoch-making victory.”
“All the pride for this victory belongs to the great nation of Iran,” he said, “a nation that stands tall on its rich civilizational legacy.”
The 12-day Israeli campaign ended in the early hours of Tuesday following relentless Iranian missile and drone barrages on Israeli military installations in the occupied territories. Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles, including multi-warhead projectiles, targeting key strategic sites.
Pezeshkian claimed the Israeli regime’s losses were “unimaginable,” despite media censorship, and stated that the war was triggered by Israeli “adventurism and warmongering.”
“It was the Iranian people’s resolve that forced the aggressor into retreat,” he noted.
According to reports, Washington intervened through backchannel mediators, urging Iran to halt its retaliatory strikes due to the scale of devastation across Israeli-held territories. U.S. President Donald Trump announced Israel’s unilateral ceasefire early Tuesday.
Iran also fired a retaliatory missile barrage at the U.S. al-Udeid airbase in Qatar, following American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities—actions Tehran said were a violation of international law.
President Pezeshkian emphasized that the assault failed to destroy Iran’s infrastructure or provoke internal unrest. Instead, it shattered the “false aura of invincibility” surrounding Israel and its allies.
“The clear message from Iran is this: aggression against our nation comes at a heavy cost.”
Pezeshkian also accused the U.S. of betrayal, noting that the attack came just days before planned indirect nuclear talks in Oman. Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, confirmed the Muscat talks were canceled, citing U.S. complicity in the Israeli aggression.
“History will not forget the treachery and broken promises of those who waged war while pretending to negotiate,” Pezeshkian concluded.
