SEREMBAN: During operations on Monday and yesterday at 27 various places around Seremban and Nilai, including a well-known supermarket, the Immigration Department seized 55 illegal immigrants, among them a toddler.

The prisoners, aged between one and fifty-one, included two Pakistani men, six men from Myanmar, eleven men from Bangladesh, two men from Indonesia, three women from Vietnam, and a girl from Vietnam, according to Negeri Sembilan Immigration head Kennith Tan Ai Kiang.

Due to their multiple violations of the Immigration Regulations 1963 and the Immigration Act 1959/63, they were placed under arrest.

When five Indonesian guys realised there were immigration police present during one of the sites, they made an attempt to escape.

But the raiding team managed to capture them all,” he claimed in a statement released today.

He continued by saying that all prisoners were then transferred to the Lenggeng Immigration Depot and that twelve witness summonses were handed out to employers or guardians of the properties asking them to come to the immigration office and help with the investigation. – Bernama
