Helicopter crash: ‘Dr. Ainul wanted to further her studies to become a specialist’ – Father shares their last conversation

KOTA BHARU: “Dr. Ainul had expressed her desire to further her studies and become a specialist doctor. That was our last conversation.”

Such was the lament of the father of Dr. Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin, 33, who perished in the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, Sarawak, on Tuesday.

Her father, Kamaruddin Salleh, 69, a retired teacher, said that his daughter had conveyed this wish when she returned to the village with her husband, Muhammad Faiz Abdul Malik, 37, during the recent school holidays.

“As a father, I supported that aspiration and told her to first seek her husband’s consent.

“We were delighted to learn of her plan to pursue further studies as a specialist doctor at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Kubang Kerian. If she succeeded, she would be able to return and serve in Kelantan,” he said when met at his residence in Kampung Baung, Pengkalan Chepa, here on Tuesday.
