KUALA LUMPUR: The Harimau Malaya squad jumped three places to rank 135th in the world based on the latest update of the International Football Federation (FIFA) rankings.

According to Bernama, the national team under the management of Kim Pan Gon gained an additional 13.04 points to collect a total of 1,107.58 points, thus increasing from the 138th position in the world that it occupied since April 4.

The latest improvement follows Malaysia’s performance in Group D of the second round of the 2026 World Cup/2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, drawing 1-1 with Kyrgyzstan and beating Taiwan 3-1, earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Thailand entered the world’s top 100 after moving up one step from 101st position, followed by Vietnam which dropped one place to 118th while Indonesia remained in 134th place to be among the top three Southeast Asian teams.

The 2022 World Cup champions, Argentina, France and Belgium retained the top three positions while Brazil overtook England for fourth place.
