TEHRAN: Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh has reportedly been killed in an attack in the Iranian capital on Wednesday, amid the ongoing Gaza War that has lasted for over 10 months.

According to Sinar Harian, the announcement was made by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which also confirmed that one of Haniyeh’s personal guards was killed when their residence was targeted by Israel. This information was corroborated by the Hamas movement.

The incident is currently under investigation.

It is understood that the Gaza-based leader was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is scheduled to take office, replacing Ebrahim Raisi, who was killed in a helicopter crash in May.
