GAZA CITY, July 20 (VOM-Voice of Malaysia): – The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has issued a renewed global call to action, urging people around the world to mobilize against what it describes as a campaign of genocide, starvation, and collective punishment inflicted on the people of Gaza by the Israeli regime.
In a statement released on Saturday, Hamas appealed to the Islamic Ummah and international freedom advocates to join in large-scale demonstrations, solidarity events, and public outcries to pressure Israel to halt its military campaign and lift the ongoing siege on Gaza.
“Let tomorrow, Sunday, July 20, and the days ahead be historic global days of action,” the statement read, calling on the world to raise their voices against the systematic killing and starvation of over two million Palestinians in the besieged territory.
Hamas condemned what it called Israel’s “flagrant violations of all human norms, divine laws, and moral values,” citing continued attacks on civilians, health infrastructure, and aid distribution points, all under the cover of international inaction.
The group’s statement comes as humanitarian conditions in Gaza reach catastrophic levels. Since the war began on October 7, 2023, Israeli military operations have killed at least 58,667 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
Starvation and Collapse of Healthcare :
Dozens of Palestinian children have reportedly died from hunger in recent weeks, as severe malnutrition and dehydration spread across the war-torn strip. Israel’s ongoing blockade of border crossings has prevented the flow of essential aid, including fuel, food, medicine, and medical equipment.
Aid agencies have warned that Gaza’s healthcare system is on the verge of collapse, with hospitals and clinics damaged or destroyed by repeated Israeli airstrikes. Children requiring urgent medical treatment face overcrowded, under-equipped hospitals and a lack of critical care resources.
UN Documents Attacks on Aid Seekers :
The UN human rights office has documented the killing of nearly 900 Palestinians who were attempting to receive aid from Israeli forces. Most of these deaths reportedly occurred at distribution points operated by the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which is backed by Israel and the United States.
Nearly the entire population of Gaza has been forcibly displaced at least once since the start of the war, with families living in tents or makeshift shelters and facing dire shortages of food, clean water, and sanitation.
Legal Proceedings and International Pressure :
Hamas’s call for global mobilization comes amid increasing legal scrutiny of Israeli actions in Gaza. In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Israel is also the subject of a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), with the court investigating allegations of systematic targeting of civilians and infrastructure in violation of international law.
“A Call for Conscience” :
The Hamas statement concluded with a direct plea to Arab, Islamic, and international communities to act decisively to stop the atrocities, stating that “failure to act now enables the fascist leadership in Israel to continue their blatant disregard for humanitarian law and human dignity.”
“This is not just a Palestinian issue—it is a test of global conscience,” the group declared.
The situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate rapidly, with no ceasefire in sight and aid groups warning that tens of thousands more could die if international intervention does not arrive swiftly.
