KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor FC striker, Faisal Halim said he is willing to lose tens of thousands of ringgit as long as his family is safe.

That was one of the expressions of the 26-year-old player at his first appearance in public at a special press conference at the Selangor FC Training Centre.

Berita Harian reported, Faisal expressed the matter to Selangor FC (SFC) Board Member Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar when he was in the hospital for treatment in the second week.

He said, what happened to him was something unexpected and difficult to accept.

“The second week I told Datuk Seri (Shahril) that I was willing to lose tens of thousands of my salary to stop playing football as long as I and my family were all safe.

“However, Datuk Seri told me that he assured me and my family’s safety. At that time, I was excited to continue playing football again.

“I told my wife, family including my father and brother, I don’t care if I’m willing to lose my salary, go back to my village to live in peace,” he said.

After undergoing four surgeries during his stay in the hospital, the Best Goal Scorer of the Asian Cup was released from the hospital on May 25.

Faisal, who is also a pillar of Harimau Malaya, said he is willing to work for a daily wage of RM50 as long as he can ensure his family is safe.

“I don’t want to live in fear because what happened to me was unexpected and unacceptable,” he said.
