Zayn Rayyan’s parents are confirmed to be undergoing psychological treatment

PETALING JAYA: The parents of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, who was murdered at Damansara Damai here on December 6, have been confirmed to be undergoing psychological treatment.

Berita Harian reported, lawyer Mahmud Jumaat, who represented the child’s mother, said his client and her husband were undergoing treatment due to the stress they experienced after the tragedy that befell the couple’s foster child six months ago.

“I believe this depression already happened before (remanded). Any family when they lose a loved one will certainly experience depression.

“I believe that even from the beginning of the case, the parents of Zayn Rayyan have already received treatment, not to mention having another autistic child, Mateen,” he said.

Also present at the press conference was the lawyer representing Zayn Rayyan’s father, Fahmi Abd Moin.

Earlier, the parents of Zayn Rayyan pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court today, to one charge of neglecting the six-year-old autistic child, in December last year.

Zaim Ikhwan who wore a black T-shirt and Ismanira in a red shirt made the confession after the charges were read before the Judge, Dr Syahliza Warnoh.

When asked about his client’s condition, Mahmud said both of them were happy as soon as today’s proceedings ended.

“Alhamdulillah, they are happy and satisfied with the PDRM investigation. Their hope is the same as the public wants, which is justice for Zayn Rayyan,” he said.

He said that the married couple were set by the court to pay bail of RM10,000 each before being released.

The court set this July 26 as the date for re-mention of the case and submission of documents.
