SEPANG, 24 July (Voice of Malaysia): A law enforcement officer was detained this morning at Terminal 1 of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on suspicion of involvement in illegal activities commonly referred to as “counter setting.”

According to a statement from the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), the officer was found in possession of RM8,391.45 in cash, three communication devices, and several records containing passport numbers.
The arrest was made at approximately 9:20 a.m. after the AKPS Surveillance and Integrity Units detected suspicious behavior through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the entry screening counter.
Preliminary investigations revealed notes containing the last four digits of passport numbers, believed to be linked to the unauthorized arrangement of entry and exit routes for individuals.
Initially, the officer was handed over to the AKPS KLIA Integrity Unit for internal investigation. The case has since been referred to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Selangor for further action.
AKPS emphasized that it takes any breach of integrity seriously, particularly when it compromises the security of national entry points. The agency vowed to take firm action against any personnel found involved in such misconduct.
The agency also reiterated its commitment to strengthening internal surveillance and inter-agency cooperation to combat wrongdoing within its ranks.
