Drugs Worth Over RM17.2 Million Seized in Two Operations in Sarawak

KUCHING: Police seized various types of drugs estimated to be worth RM17.2 million in two separate operations carried out in Kuching and Limbang on Sept 11 and Sept 14.

Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Management Director Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, who is also the Sarawak Police Commissioner, said the first operation on Sept 11 involved the arrest of a 39-year-old local man at a house in Kuching.

“The drugs seized were estimated to be worth RM12.89 million. The syndicate is believed to have been active since July 2026 and used a terrace house as a location to process, package and store drugs before distributing them around Kuching,” he said.

Mohamad Zainal said the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine/amphetamine during a urine screening and was remanded for seven days from Sept 12 until tomorrow to assist investigations.

Meanwhile, the second operation on Sept 14 involved the arrest of a 23-year-old man along Jalan Mendamit in Limbang.

“In the raid, police seized 84.07kg of drugs comprising 81.21kg of syabu, 2.06kg of ketamine and 0.80kg of MDMA powder, with a total estimated value of RM4.3 million.

“The syndicate is believed to have been active since November 2025 and used a four-wheel-drive vehicle to transport drug supplies from Miri to Sabah by road. The suspect was remanded for seven days from Sept 15 to Sept 22 to assist investigations,” he said.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
