BUTTERWORTH, Sept 16 (VoM): More than 10,000 people gathered at the PICCA Convention Centre at Butterworth Arena tonight to celebrate Malaysia Day 2025, an event hosted in collaboration with the Penang State Government.

Carrying the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni,” the evening began with a welcoming performance, “Rentak Tradisi Pulau Mutiara,” highlighting Penang’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant artistic traditions.

The symbolic launch of the national celebration was officiated by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang, Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ramli Ngah Talib, accompanied by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, and Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya.

The festivities continued with the signing of the Malaysia Day 2025 Commemorative Book and the cake-cutting ceremony for Malaysia’s 62nd Malaysia Day.

In a special highlight, the Prime Minister presented the grand prizes of the “Gerakan Bersama Malaysiaku” campaign, a Proton e.MAS car, a Proton X70, and a Modenas motorcycle, to three lucky winners.

The celebration was further elevated by the musical performance “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni,” creatively expressed through the Malaysian Traditional Orchestra of Istana Budaya. The orchestra accompanied five local singers and eight multicultural dance groups, offering a vibrant showcase of Malaysia’s ethnic and cultural diversity, before the evening ended with a fireworks display.

Visitors also enjoyed a wide range of activities, including the “Menelusuri Zaman” exhibition, photo gallery, RTM and Astro Audio KITA FM DJ Corner, Safe Internet Campaign, traditional food and costume demonstrations, family coloring contests, Kahoot quizzes, and a food truck festival.

Also present were Minister of Communications and Chairman of the National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 Main Committee Datuk Fahmi Fadzil; Penang Chief Minister and Co-Chairman of the Malaysia Day 2025 Celebration, Chow Kon Yeow; federal cabinet ministers; and leaders from the state governments of Penang, Sabah, and Sarawak.
