Construction Work Disrupts KTM Komuter And ETS Services

PETALING JAYA: Klang Valley KTM Komuter and Electric Train Service (ETS) services have been disrupted following an incident involving bridge construction work at Batang Benar, Seremban today.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), in a statement, informed that the incident involved construction work by a Public Works Department (JKR) contractor for a wayleave project carried out without obtaining work approval from KTMB.

According to the statement, during the construction work, wooden structures from the construction site fell onto the tracks and struck the overhead line electrical system between Batang Benar and Labu.

“The incident caused damage to the electrical supply system, thereby affecting train operations on the route,” it said today.

Following the incident, KTM Komuter services from Pulau Sebang towards KL Sentral were terminated at Seremban Station, while services towards KL Sentral and Batu Caves only commenced from Bangi Station.

“KTMB also provided three intermediary bus services from Seremban, Tiroi, Batang Benar, Labu, and Bangi to assist passengers in reaching stations to continue their journeys.

“In addition, there are no KTM Komuter services between Bangi Station and Seremban Station until further notice.

“Passengers using the affected routes are advised to seek alternative transport to continue their journeys,” it said.

For the affected ETS services, KTMB provided seven intermediary bus services at KL Sentral, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Kajang, and Seremban stations to assist passengers in continuing their journeys.

According to KTMB, ETS passengers who choose not to continue their journey from the originating station are eligible for a full fare refund.

It added that technical teams are currently actively carrying out repair work to restore the overhead line electrical system to ensure train services resume as soon as possible.
