Chinese Ambassador Ouyang Yujing to End Tenure After Nearly Six Years in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing is set to conclude his tenure in the country after nearly six years, describing the opportunity to contribute to China-Malaysia relations as the honour of a lifetime.
He said that throughout his tenure as the 16th Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, he felt deeply honoured and fortunate to have contributed to efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and bring the people of both countries closer together.
“Tonight is a night of farewell. After serving as Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia for five years and 10 months, I will soon conclude my tenure and return home.
“No matter where the future takes me, a part of my heart will always remain in Malaysia, and I will forever support the continued development of China-Malaysia relations,” he said.
He said this in his speech at a reception marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and a farewell ceremony for the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia here.
Ouyang Yujing said relations between the two countries had grown closer, with bilateral ties undergoing three major developments.
He said the relationship began as a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, evolved into a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, and has now been elevated to a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future.
“Most importantly, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s historic state visit in April opened a new chapter of ‘50 Golden Years’ for our relations, bringing bilateral ties to their best level in history.
“Just last week, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim visited China to attend the opening ceremony of the WorldSkills Competition and the Global Digital Trade Expo.
“His meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang resulted in important new consensus to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries,” he said.
