KUALA LANGAT: The flood situation at the Bukit Changgang Youth Land Scheme (RTB) here has receded and all affected residents have been allowed to return home on Saturday.
Selangor Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director, Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the RTB Fire Control Post (PKB) was closed at 6 p.m. on Friday.
“The flood waters have receded and residents have been allowed to return.
“Post-flood activities have begun today,” he told Sinar Harian on Saturday.
He said the fire department is conducting periodic monitoring from time to time to monitor the river water level.
He explained that personnel from the Banting Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) and KLIA BBP are working together to assist residents during the post-flood phase.
Sinar Harian previously reported that the number of victims involved in the incident since last Thursday was 546 people, comprising 295 males and 251 females from 250 families.
Based on the breakdown, there were 241 adult males, 166 adult females, 80 male children, 76 female children, 1 male infant and 9 female infants, 12 elderly males, 16 elderly females, 13 male persons with disabilities (OKU) and 4 female OKU.
Earlier, a team of personnel from BBP Banting, BBP KLIA and BBP Dengkil were rushed to the location after receiving a call at 4.12 a.m. last Thursday.
The incident is believed to have been caused by a broken embankment, which led to flooding with depths of approximately 0.3 to 0.9 metres, affecting 32 houses.
Affected victims were placed at the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at SK RTB Bukit Changgang.
