Kuala Lumpur: Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib has expressed unwavering support for his father, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, following the High Court’s decision to dismiss Najib’s application to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
In an emotional Facebook post on Tuesday (Dec 23), Nazifuddin said the former prime minister would not be deterred by the ruling.
“I know my father. Bossku will not give up. He will continue to fight,” he wrote, while also sharing the personal toll the prolonged legal battle has taken on the family.
Describing the decision as deeply heartbreaking, Nazifuddin said the pain went beyond his father’s situation and reflected broader concerns about governance and constitutional authority in the country.
“Yesterday’s decision was immensely painful, not just because of my father, but because of what it represents,” he said.
According to Nazifuddin, the ruling implied that royal decrees or documents hold no legal value unless they undergo a formal government process, a stance he warned could have serious and far-reaching implications.
He maintained that the addendum order related to his father’s case was valid, stating his understanding that the Pardons Board serves only an advisory role, while ultimate authority lies with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“However, the message received was very clear that authority now lies with the government, and without a government process, royal documents carry no value,” he added.
Nazifuddin also thanked supporters who have stood by his family throughout the legal proceedings. At the same time, he addressed critics who welcomed the court’s decision.
“To those who choose to rejoice and celebrate this decision, enjoy your greatest political victory the downfall of an old government that built this nation to where it stands today,” he said.
He concluded by expressing confidence in the public’s ability to judge the situation for themselves, pointing to ongoing political developments in Sabah as an example.
