JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 9: A Bangladeshi woman was arrested after she allegedly cut off her lover’s genitals in a fit of jealousy upon discovering that he was still legally married to his wife in Bangladesh.
The incident took place yesterday in Kampung Lokan, Gelang Patah, near Johor Bahru, according to Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief M. Kumarasan.
The 34-year-old suspect was detained at 12.15 p.m. following a report lodged by a local man who found the 33-year-old victim, also a Bangladeshi, severely injured in his genital area and left hand.
“Investigations revealed that the incident was motivated by jealousy after the suspect learned that the victim had not divorced his wife in Bangladesh despite being in a romantic relationship with her,” Kumarasan said, as reported by Bernama.
Police seized a 29 centimetre long knife believed to have been used in the attack.
Checks showed that the suspect had no prior criminal record and tested negative for drugs. The victim is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Sultanah Aminah.
The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt with a weapon and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act for entering and residing in Malaysia without valid documentation.
