A small reshuffle of the Cabinet if the country’s IMD does not record a satisfactory position

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will not hesitate to reshuffle the Cabinet if the country’s World Competitiveness Index (IMD) next year registers an unsatisfactory position.

Berita Harian reported, he said, one of the main criticisms in the report was that Malaysia failed or less to take unpopular measures, but the government did it like implementing subsidy targeting as a measure to save billions of ringgit.

“However, the government will do so and I think that by itself solves the second criticism of the country’s economic performance.

“God willing, I hope next year it will record a better report.

“Otherwise, I would have to make some minor reshuffles in the Cabinet. Only (that) is a way to save the Prime Minister,” he said jokingly.

He said this while speaking at the United States and Malaysia Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Luncheon at a hotel here today.
