Aliff and I are not engaged, Ruhainies says

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer-actor Aliff Aziz from Singapore and actress Ruhainies Zainul Ilyas, 31, have been the target of criticism from some people who disseminate “nonsense” about them.

According to a story published yesterday in Harian Metro, Ruhainies denied any involvement in the “invitation card” that went viral on social media and appeared to show that she and Aliff were engaged.

“May you all get your just rewards eventually for spreading lies against Aliff and me. Yesterday, Ruhainies posted an Instagram Story statement encouraging all netizens to avoid falling for rumours and fake news on social media.

Ruhainies pleaded with her followers to let her know if they figured out who sent the “invitation”.

“I may be the victim today, but many others might fall prey to such slander later.”

Ruhainies and Aliff allegedly indicated on the “invitation card” that they will be getting engaged on Saturday.

On March 9, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) arrested both of them for khalwat at her condominium.

The Syariah High Court scheduled a hearing for July 3 to discuss their khalwat issue.
