The Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) has handed over the investigation into the recent viral incident involving the sale of alcohol at a premise within a school compound to the relevant authorities.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek emphasized that the ministry will not compromise on any form of misconduct or violation of regulations involving educational institutions.

“We have handed the matter over to the authorities for investigation, and we will not compromise on any form of misconduct or breach of regulations. Action will be taken,” she told reporters at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Program MADANI Rakyat (PMR) in Terengganu today.

She added that investigations by the authorities are still ongoing, including into the reported altercation during the auction event. MOE will continue to monitor the case to ensure enforcement of school regulations and determine any necessary follow-up actions.

The incident sparked public outcry after it went viral recently, revealing that a public school facility in Pontian, Johor, had been used to host an alcohol auction. Reports also indicated that a fight broke out during the event. – Bernama
