LIMA’25 showcases Malaysia’s commitment to improving defense capabilities : Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim

LANGKAWI, May 20, 2025 — During the opening ceremony of the 17th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA’25) at the Langkawi International Convention Centre, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized Malaysia’s steadfast dedication to defense readiness and regional tranquility.

Anwar highlighted that LIMA’25 showcases Malaysia’s commitment to improving defense capabilities and promoting strategic partnerships in response to changing global security challenges. He emphasized the exhibition’s importance in fostering partnerships, aiding local industries, and driving innovation for both national and regional security.

The Prime Minister emphasized ASEAN’s significance as a cornerstone of regional stability, expressing appreciation for the involvement of global powers such as China, India, Korea, the United States, and European countries in LIMA’25.

LIMA’25 showcases an impressive array of defense assets, featuring 43 fighter jets and various aircraft executing aerial displays at Langkawi International Airport, alongside 31 warships and maritime assets, which include 12 vessels from participating nations, on exhibit.

Defense Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin highlighted that this year’s edition focuses significantly on innovation and the advancement of indigenous defense technologies, with multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs) set to be signed during the event.

The exhibition, scheduled from May 20 to May 24, is anticipated to attract considerable international interest, solidifying Malaysia’s role as a prominent participant in regional defense and security efforts.
