Saudi Arabia’s Haramain High-Speed Railway has moved the most people in a single day since it opened in 2018. The Saudi Railway Company said that on the 15th of Ramadan, they moved about 48,000 people in a single day.
Since the start of Ramadan in March, more than 39,000 people have used the Haramain services every day, showing that they are very popular as the fastest way to get to Makkah.
All year long, the train connects Makkah and Madinah and goes through Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport, and King Abdullah Economic City. Worshipers, as well as Umrah and Hajj pilgrims, use it.
Since the beginning of Ramadan, the SAR has slowly increased the number of trips. For the last 10 days, they have been making 130 trips a day to accommodate people doing Umrah, worshipers, and tourists to the holy sites.
SAR has changed train plans to match the busiest times for tourists and worshipers during Ramadan. They have also added more lounges to the Madinah station to make the travel experience better.
The railway has an electric line that runs for 453 km, and the Saudi Press Agency said that the trains can go as fast as 300 km/h, making them one of the ten fastest in the world.
