Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says Israel should pay the almost 500,000 ringgit cost of rebuilding war-torn Gaza instead of trying to force its people to leave. “The damage in Gaza has cost about US$100 billion (RM447 billion), and Israel and the Netanyahu government are to blame for this high cost.”

Erdogan said that the Israeli government shouldn’t try to force Gazans off their land. Instead, he said, they should find a way to pay to rebuild Gaza. Earlier on Monday (Feb. 10), Universiti Malaya gave the Turkish president an honorary Doctorate in International Relations in honour of his work in international talks and diplomacy.
Erdogan was given the honorary degree by University Chancellor Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at an event at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC). Trump is in Malaysia for two days.
On Tuesday, February 11, the Turkish president will be greeted by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, at Perdana Putra. He will then have a private meeting with the prime minister.
