Beware of fake Bank Islam links and social media accounts
Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (Bank Islam) has urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent links and fake social media accounts that misuse the bank’s brand and images for scams.
In a statement, Bank Islam Group Chief Operating Officer, Mohamed Iran Moriff Mohd Shariff, emphasized that all campaigns organized by the bank are only promoted through its official channels.
“Bank Islam prioritizes data security and customer interests. We will never ask for personal or sensitive information such as account numbers, passwords, or one-time password (OTP) codes through websites or social media for any campaign.
“In fact, all campaign promotions are conducted exclusively on Bank Islam’s official platforms. Therefore, we urge the public to be extra cautious and not fall victim to the deceitful tactics of irresponsible parties,” he said in the statement today.
Mohamed Iran Moriff also advised the public to verify the authenticity of any information before taking further action.
“All official information regarding campaigns, promotions, or banking products is only published through Bank Islam’s official channels, namely its official website at www.bankislam.com and social media platforms, including Facebook (Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad), Instagram (bankislam), X (myBankIslam), and LinkedIn (Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad),” he added.
At the same time, users are advised to protect themselves from fraud by being cautious of clickable links, always logging into their banking accounts through the official Bank Islam website, and carefully checking website links before proceeding with transactions.
Additionally, he reminded the public to verify the correct security image and security phrase before entering their passwords.
